We don’t get these kind of temps often, but the real kick in the pants is that it was only 58 degrees for a high 48 hours ago.

It would seem that reports of the PC Clubs’ death may have been premature! PCClub.com is back up and running, and the stores will be soon. It would seem that NAOC Holdings has acquired PC Club and says:
“Brick-and-mortar accessory computer stores are still a valued commodity in the US,” said NAOC spokesperson Alan Hunter. “We know PC Club with its long history, quality technical service and computer accessory assortment will continue to have strong potential for continued business operations. A technology retail outlet is the next logical addition to our portfolio, and we expect this will be a mutually beneficial relationship.”
Good for them! I wasn’t looking forward to ordering parts or driving an hour to get them.

KGW is running a story that PC Club is shuttering their doors effective immediately. I quickly called the local Salem store and talked to one of my favorite techs there, Adam. He confirmed the story. I hesitated for a few moments out of shock. I regained my thought processes and thanked him for all his help over the years and wished him luck. It is a sad day for Salem. Our computer stores are dominated by big box chains and junk resellers. If anybody knows of a good store in Salem where I can get parts and advice, I’d love to know about it. Otherwise, newegg.com is by new best friend. For the parts at least…
