Prosper: A failed vision. Part 2.

As always, you can see all of my Prosper coverage in one place.

Sometimes I wish I could know what Prosper (PMI) was thinking. They have deleted two years of public forums to rewrite history and censor opinions. The new forum is so heavily moderated that nothing, except cheerleaders, can get through their required moderation. Lucky for lenders, some of the data has been archived. It is a tough process, but several veteran members are doing what they can to make sure that Prosper can’t hide from the truth.

To that end, here are some other resources on Prosper if you haven’t found them already.

Crazy Oregon Weather

snow

This is a perfect example of how weather in Oregon is just crazy. I used one of my favorite utilities, Snag It, to grab this from the Statesman Journal website.  Inside of an hour, visitors are informed that snow is not expected and then that snow is currently falling. The side of town where I work isn’t so lucky. I’ve only been able to spy a snow flake or two mixed in with all of the rain.

It’s a girl!

Sarah and I just got back from the hospital where we got to take a look at our 20 week baby. We’re about half way through and everything is looking good. About 40 minutes into the checkup we learned that we’re having a girl. Yea! I was right! Alex is going to be outnumbered now 2 to 1, poor kid!

Here are the ultrasound pictures:

Brinlee Madison or maybe Bailey Lynn Brinlee Marie Kester, we’re still working on names.

Woot woot!

Now mirroring for CDBurnerXP

CDBurner LogoI have a real respect for freeware and open source projects. It has to be tough to work so hard on something, have everybody critique it, and support it all day long while not making any money off of it. As I was going through my RSS a couple of days ago I came across an announcement from cdBurnerXP that they needed a new mirror for their downloads. I immediately shot an email off to Flo and this morning I setup an account for them to use at http://mirror.skfox.com/. In just a couple of hours they have racked up about 1GB of bandwidth usage. Mediatemple, the skfox.com host, advertises 1TB of bandwidth and 100GB of storage. I’m hoping they are serious about that, cause I’m gonna need it. 🙂

What is CDBurnerXP?

CDBurnerXP is a free application to burn CDs and DVDs, including Blu-Ray and HD-DVDs. It also includes the feature to burn and create ISOs, as well as a multilanguage interface. Everyone, even companies, can use it for free. It does not include adware or similar malicious components.

The worst question you can ask me

Single Page ApplicationsAuthor side note: I was originally going to sit down tonight and write part two of my “distractionless browsing” article. In short, I’ve had little to no success with the systems I outlined in my previous article. They are as different and quirky as the mainstream browsers they intend to co-exist with. Instead I’m going go on a little rant about my job as a web application developer.

So, what do you do for a living?

Great… cue eye roll. Here we go…
